A goal to reach

For centuries, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pietralba has been a pilgrimage destination. The true essence of pilgrimage lies in walking slowly, given that pilgrims have always seen life as a journey of the soul. Nowadays however, pilgrims are also resorting to motorised transport. Here are three itineraries that give you the chance to be at one with nature and finish up at the radiant Cathedral of the Dolomites. Enjoy your walk.

Pilgrims’ Path

The old pilgrims' path leading from Laives to the pilgrimage church is a wonderful hiking experience. The trail covers 11 km and has an altitude difference of 1,300 m, making it quite challenging. The first section of the route is somewhat steep along an asphalt forest road over the Franzenberg mountain to the chapel of St Peter (St. Peter am Kofel), the symbol of Laives. From here, the Way of the Cross path leads to Pietralba.

Voice of the verb Ristorare

To stay in Pietralba is not only to immerse oneself in beautiful nature at the foot of the Dolomites, but also to refresh oneself at an altitude of 1,500 meters, thanks to a restaurant that offers tasteful, authentic alpine cuisine, a kiosk that dispenses delicious delicacies, and a picnic area where one can stop, rest, play, and admire a landscape that is nothing short of unique.
