The Cathedral of the Dolomites
Dedicated to the Virgin Mary
Situated at an altitude of 1,550 m, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pietralba is the most cherished place of pilgrimage among South Tyroleans. Perched on the slopes of Monte San Pietro, the sanctuary overlooks the beautiful Val d'Ega. For this reason, it was renamed the Cathedral of the Dolomites and has radiated light on to the mountains and valley below for almost five centuries.

The Hermitage of St Leonhard can be found in secluded natural surroundings just a few minutes from the sanctuary. Situated on the spot where the Virgin appeared to Leonhard Weissensteiner, it is a true hidden gem.
